We all now how severe a virus can be, but do we really understand security threats? New threats are a daily problem. I am not going to cover all of them now but here is a list of different types for further learning:
(each title can be clicked for it meaning and more information.
Malware- Software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. (some malware is disguised as genuine software, and may come from an official company website)

Virus -a software program capable of reproducing itself and usually capable of causing great harm to files or other programs on the same...

Spyware - Software that self-installs on a computer, enabling information to be gathered covertly about a person's Internet use, passwords, etc.

Adware - Adware, or advertising-supported software, is any software package which automatically plays, displays, or downloads advertisements

Scareware - Scareware comprises several classes of scam software with malicious payloads, or of limited or no benefit, that are sold to consumers...

Now let's begin! You will want to first visit our Tools section and download the needed tools. What you will need is Spybot Portable / MalwareBytes / IOBIT Malware Fighter. Boot up your computer in Safe Mode without networking. If your not sure how to do this see our video. Start by loading Spybot Portable. Click 'Immunize' on the left column. After scan finishes click immunize now. This will take a long time but nearly as long if you attempt this in standard mode. Once finished, click Check for Problems. If threats are found, remove all of them. Spybot will tell you the computer needs restarted, so click restart. TIP: Be sure to take not of any threats found such as MyWebSearch, FunWebProducts etc. You can look up other threats here

Now after a restart, install Malwarebytes, Iobit Malware Fighter, and AVAST. Run a scan on Malwarebytes first then remove all threats. Do the same with the Malware Fighter. Now restart your computer so that Avast will finish installing. Now open Avast and click scans on the left column then click boot scan. Click schedule now and click restart. This will run a Boot Time Scan which is good because it scans all security hiding behind the Operating System (ie. Windows.) The scan will take a long time, type 2 for any threats that come up and then the computer will restart. Open Avast and run a complete scan. We can't cover how to remove security threats here because there is too many and each one is different causing the removal process to be different. So if you have one that you need further detail on, just comment on this article and we will respond back with the appropriate removal process and tips.
Suggestion: BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN CHOOSING SECURITY SOFTWARE! There are many programs that actually cause problems, and Rogue Security programs that will cause security threats and computer shutdown! These are called SCAREWARE
