What Is Reiki
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means “God's Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is "life force energy.” So, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy. “Some people call it "Laying on of hands" others "Energy Healing" or "Energy Medicine.” Reiki is a holistic energy based healing that is recognized and used in many hospitals across the world including many well renowned American hospitals such as John Hopkins & the Mayo Clinic. Reiki is also offered at many local Maine hospitals including Maine Medical Center. Not only has Reiki offered at hospitals, it has also been put to the test by hospitals such as Duke Integrative Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center Campus, Yale and other’s.
The studies found that Reiki is a beneficial treatment and when added to conventional medicine helps patients heal faster etc. Sheldon Marc Feldman MD, Chief, Division of Breast Surgery, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, spoke at a Reiki conference in 2012 promoting and sharing his professional accounts of patients treated with Reiki at his hospital.
How Does Reiki Work?
As a Reiki practitioner I work with your body’s natural energy system (life force) to help your body balance the flow of its natural energy. Reiki energy works by flowing out of the Reiki practitioners hand chakras then into and throughout the clients energy field, charging it with positive energy, raising the body’s natural vibratory level as it clears, balances and heals and restores the bodies vital life force energy that is in and around the physical body. The body’s energy field consists of the “Auric Field, Chakra’s, meridians and nadis. Our bodies energy system has and uses a pathway system very similar to the way blood flows through our veins. If this pathway gets blocked, energy cannot flow through our body properly possibly resulting in disease. Reiki clears, straightens and heals those energy paths, allowing your life force energy to flow in the healthy natural way it was intended to.

What to expect at a Reiki Session
The practitioner begins to perform Reiki on the client, beginning at the head and working down the body to the feet. The session can vary based on what the client’s needs are. An example of this would be if a client came in with cancer, pain etc. the practitioner would clear each chakra and then concentrate on the specific area of concern. The client will experience a warming or cool energy coming from the practitioner’s hands as they work on the client. At the end of the session the practitioner will clear the client’s aura with either their hands or a selenite wand. The session may vary slightly based on the practitioner’s individual style and discernment but will always put the client’s needs first.

Help the pet in your life with Reiki. A Reiki session for your pet can offer your pet healing on a new deeper level, Reiki can help them through times of discomfort, stress and illness.
All living beings have an energy system, just like the human body animals have an auric field, chakras & meridians and therefore they too can benefit from Reiki.
Do to the natural high energy animals possess they require shorter Reiki sessions than their humans do, therefore we offer short Reiki sessions, if your pet chooses to stay longer that is fine with us. It is our policy not to force Reiki on any living species therefore animal Reiki sessions are based on how long your special friend will receive the Reiki energy. Many animals will simply get up and walk away when they have received enough, we respect your pets individual choice whether that is 5 min or 55 min. (of course we will stop at the allotted 20 min. time frame if their human wants us too.)
