Recycling is a great way to help to save the earth in many ways. I recycle many items that I purchase or own myself to create new products that others can enjoy or hand-down for many generations to come.
I had a neighbor approach me that was aware that I have made purses from recycled leather and genuine fur, she asked me if I could use a mink stole that was her mother's to create 3 small purses for her granddaughter's American Girl Dolls. I told her I would be more than happy to make this happen for her. She gave me the mink stole and told me that if I made the purses for her, I could have the leftover mink to create other items to sell. I created the purses and I also made her a detachable mink collar that she can utilize for herself on coats, sweaters, or jackets. I felt that she herself should have some of the mink of her mothers to hand down as well. When I delivered the purses and the collar, she was so thrilled that she went out and got me a thank you gift and card. I did not need anything material as a thank you after I saw the look on her face when I delivered the purse and collar.
This occassion has made me realize that there are a lot of people out there with items that have been handed down to them that they don't have a need for. I am trying to reach out to all of those people, anyone who has an old genuine fur or leather item that would like to have something that they can utilize in their lives that will still give them the memories of the person who loved them so dearly.
