My name is Patricia "PENELOPE" Biedrycki. I have been sewing for over 50 years, and this is my passion. The first years were spent sewing for family and friends, and the next years I entered craft shows and baazars. Now I 'm retired and ready for the "Big Web". I love art so I wear it on my clothes, by appliques and piecing fabric.
Anything in my imagination can be made into a garment. Just show me the fabric and my imagination begins to work. Everywhere I look I see a new pattern, my garden or the seaside, or countryside, or animals. I take a picture with my eyes and sew it on garments. Because I love to sew I also make the garment first.
Ask me what is fun and I will tell you sewing. My grandmother was a seamstress also. She lived in Washington DC and sewed for the wives of senators and congressmen (and also for me) Her name was Bessie Keefer. My ancestors were textile merchants who came to America from Germany with the French Huguenots. So you see my passion for fabric is in my blood. My grandmother's maiden name was Mederia which I see is a copyright name for a thread, but I haven't found her tied to it, but isn't that a coincidence?? You may recall Penelope was a Greek goddess also known as "the weaver". My mother did not sew, she studied Greek and just liked the name, isn't that another coincidence??
