Martial Arts studies have emerged throughout time as necessary in the face of threats of an individuals, groups, community and society's survival. It is not new or will these activities in modern society end. The premise of the modern era of martial studies suggests that a more permeable, open, eclectic and flexible system of martial studies be available to meet the diverse needs of the modern practitioner. However, there are some people who are intent on advocating singular and fixed position is the cornerstone of martial achievement and success. In fact, the notion of loyal to a "Master" or a "School" is a intregral component of their philosophies and economics on a "contract" basis.
These out-dated groups argue that the new mixed and/or hybrid system have no core or don't concentrate on that special "something" in comparison to their own roots - no matter how distance and unaligned those roots are in any real anaysis. The fact is that "martial systems" evolve to meet the needs of the era - they are not and have never been fixed since the beginning of time. Warriors always sought to advance their skills in warfare and self defense to get that added edge to increase their effectiveness in martial combat; and, more importantly, in surviving. The notion of a fixed system is simply an economic product somehow rooted in the notion of these previous times. It is nonsense.
The World Ki Shin Do Budo Kai Federation was formed on the premise of this historical reality and the modern one. As a governing body of "progressive" martial artists the Federation has develop a "foundational" system or core training to achieve the highest level of mastery humanly possible in the basic fighting and self defense skills. However, the Federation recognizes the need for diversity in training to meet the practitioners needs and mindset. With this philosophy or paradigm in place, the practitioner is encouraged to seek his/her own passage under the watchful mentorship of a Doshin or Coach. The goal however remain steadfastly focused on the core fundamentals and is further enriched by advanced training in Pressure Points, Chi Development, Internal Power Development and Spiritual Studies.
We are not the only anwer or approach and accept this fact. But what we hope to be is a honest, supportive and realistic "New Paradigm" for the modern warrior.
