There's nothing better than enjoying air conditioning in Ocala on a hot summer day, but sometimes the noise the air conditioner makes can get in the way of enjoying the situation. At first, the noise can seem a bit annoying but still manageable, but if the noise persists throughout the day for multiple days, that annoyance can turn into insanity. Fortunately, there are a few possible solutions to get rid of excessive air conditioning noise.
Often, the cause of excessive air conditioning noise is an actual problem with the air conditioner. Calling a professional for maintenance and a checkup is the best way to check. Air conditioners and furnaces can benefit from a bit of regular servicing anyway, so calling in an expert can't hurt. If it is something wrong that's responsible for the noise, you may be just a few adjustments away from a complete solution to your problem.
Unfortunately, sometimes the noise is completely normal and healthy for the particular unit. In fact, unless you shelled out massive stacks of cash for a top-of-the-line air conditioner, substantial noise is standard. Don't fret, though, as there are still a couple ways to muffle that noise.
Every air conditioner has at least 1 intake vent somewhere in the home, and while the air conditioner is the source of the noise, the vent is what allows it to travel from wherever the air conditioner is located to your ears. Understanding how air and sound waves behave, you can adjust your vent to mitigate the noise. If the intake vent is horizontal, meaning it lies flat on the ground, you can cover the vent with a small box with a vent on the side to make it vertical. Because sound waves bounce while air flows, about 50 percent of the sound will bounce back down the vent, while not impeding the necessary air flow.
If the sound is still unbearable, there are 2 other options, though they are a bit more difficult. If the noise is indeed coming from the intake vent, you can have the intake vent moved to a location further from the source. If the sound is coming from the air conditioner itself, you can either try sound insulating its area, or moving it somewhere further from where you spend the most time.
Enjoying air conditioning in Ocala will almost always be accompanied by at least a slight hum, but you can use these methods to get the noise as manageable as possible.
