Grace Lake Peace and Tranquillity

by Teresa Mechals of Grace Lake Resort ( 13-Apr-2012 )

I would like to share a story with you. When I was a child my family would travel to Reno, Nevada to visit my grandmother. We lived on the North Coast, so the route we would travel included Hwy 44. Looking out the window I remember always seeing several cabins tucked away in the Pine trees and wondering what they might look like inside. We went past those cabins so many times on our travels, never imagining that some day they might be mine. Years and years later, the opportunity landed in our laps. Ray and I met a wonderful woman and her son that talked of their old resort, that their family had ran so many years ago. They still owned the property but had not done anything with it for quite some time. She decided that she was interested in selling. Nestled amongst towering Ponderosa Pines, at the gateway to Majestic Mt Lassen, there they were, our little diamonds in the rough. The property also included a main house and a swimming pool. This resort needed much TLC, and Ray and I were just the people to give it that. Ray, with 30 years experience of being a licensed contractor and my love of design and decorating, we dove right in. 2 years later, we are proud to say Grace Lake Resort is open again! We would love to share our little piece of heaven with you. Nearby attractions include: Mt Lassen National Park, Thousand Lakes Wilderness Area. Grace, Nora, McCumber lakes. Hat Creek (great fishing). Burney Falls State Park. Ashpan snowmobile Park (39 miles of trails) Wild Horse Sanctuary. Local Wineries include Alger Vinyards ,Cedar Crest, Indian Peak, Mt Tehama, Ringtail, Shasta Daisy and Anselmo Vinyard and Winery. The Recreation possibilities are endless. I could go on and on, but you should come see and experience this beautiful area for yourself and your families.
