The January rut in Alabama is one of the latest of the season. Many southern bruiser bucks are taken in the last days of January, so don't put away your guns yet. More and more serious deer hunters are recognizing the great value in pursuing bucks of the south. Mid-western and northern hunters experience their rut hunts in mid November, and are looking for ways to extend their season. According to many lodges and outfitters in south Alabama, the late rut, affordable hunting rates, and over the counter licenses have increased their bookings dramatically. With Alabama's new 3 buck limit, the state is producing bigger and bigger bucks every year, some scoring over 150 B&C taken annually.
